Affordable 2 bedroom cottage- Unit 1

Property Type: Unit

Our village is centered around a historic house that served as the manager's residence for the original Coromandel gold mine, built 146 years ago. This beautifully restored home now functions as a communal hub, featuring expansive BBQ decks, a library, games room, ballroom, and a large kitchen suitable for events.

We offer 14 charming cottages, each with a cottage-like exterior but modern, up-to-date interiors.

Each 2-bedroom cottage includes an open-plan kitchen and lounge area, a laundry cupboard, a separate bathroom and toilet, and a hot water cupboard. All essential kitchen and laundry appliances are provided.

Enjoy the added benefit of no village fee for the first year!

The unit comes equipped with a fridge, oven, cooktop, microwave, washing machine, dryer, heat pump, and a St John alarm system. Additionally, each cottage has its own carport.

The village also features a beautifully preserved Victorian bay heritage villa from around 1895, offering communal spaces for gatherings, meetings, and social activities. The tranquil setting allows you to unwind and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Our village offers a unique lifestyle with a small-town feel and is conveniently located just a 10-minute drive from the beach and a 20-minute walk from town.

Wayne and Kathryn Besley purchased the Colonial Cottages Motel in 2021, envisioning it as the perfect retirement village. The communal area villa, originally built around 1895 for Captain Albert Argall—one of the first mine managers to reside there—has a rich history. It became a medical superintendent's residence in 1937, then a motel in the late 1970s. Now, Wayne and his team of builders have transformed it once again.
The villa has undergone a complete renovation, with new foundations, carpet, kitchen, dining area, and an extension for the toilet block—all meticulously crafted to match the heritage of the building. To meet community space regulations, the two original brick chimneys were replaced with structurally safe fiberglass replicas, preserving the villa's historical charm. Every detail of this project was carefully considered, with no expense spared to ensure the building remains perfect for another century.
This villa will serve as the communal hub where residents can gather, relax, and entertain family and friends. It features a modern kitchen, cozy games room, library, lounge, bathroom, and a grand ballroom complete with chandeliers and a massive 86-inch TV for watching sports or holding resident meetings. Surrounding the villa are two large decks and three BBQ areas with six burners each.
The village also offers two-bedroom units, formerly motel cottages, which have been completely renovated with insulation, new paint, and modern appliances. Each unit is spacious, with an open-plan kitchen/lounge, two bedrooms, a shower room, and a carport. Six of these cottages are arranged around a tidy lawn. Additionally, there are two one-bedroom cottages set for renovation, along with plans to build five new two-bedroom cottages on-site. The village's intimate size ensures a personal, close-knit community, unlike the larger, impersonal retirement villages.
But there's not all! Residents will also have access to a hobby room, workshop area, and ample space for parking motorhomes, caravans, and boats. There's even room for gardening and fish filleting. The village is well-protected from adverse weather, having withstood this year's storms and Cyclone Gabriel with minimal impact.
An on-site manager will be available during regular working hours. The first two renovated two-bedroom cottages are now on the market, with more to come. The entire site is expected to be completed by 2028. Register your interest today!

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
