Summerset at the Course is located in Upper Hutt, right next door to Trentham Racecourse. The village is at the end of a cul-de-sac, it’s peaceful and quiet with minimal traffic noise. The village is set in pastoral surroundings on a level site looking out on farmland framed by the Tararua Ranges.
We currently have a selection of townhouses available at Summerset at the Course. They feature two bedrooms, a bathroom, an internal access garage, and a bright, spacious open-plan living area with a contemporary kitchen, ideal for entertaining friends and family.*
Aside from the live entertainment out on the track, there is an array of activities available within the village itself. There is an indoor swimming pool, a pool table, library, workshop, café and bar. The bowling green is outside right next to the course, and the calendar is filled with organised outings and activities on site.
This established village is home to more than 400 residents in a mix of villas, townhouses, apartments and serviced apartments, as well as care rooms in our care centre, providing rest home and hospital-level care (subject to availability). Please note - our Care Centre is unavailable due to refurbishment which is taking place from late 2023.

Summerset has signed a lease agreement with Kelvin House a 31-bed facility in Manor Park while it remodels its own care centre at Summerset at the Course – Trentham. Summerset expects the project to be completed during 2025 with information about transfer options back to Trentham prior to completion.

| Living a very busy life at Trentham’s Summerset at the Course, Erin doesn’t have time to be retired. Monday and Wednesday are spent doing exercise and tai chi classes at the village. She enjoys Happy Hour on Fridays and creative activities on Saturdays. “I keep Sunday free for my family. But they often complain that I’m never at home.” Erin says. “I struggle to be retired because I’m so busy. But the best thing is I can do whatever I want now.” Erin moved into her villa at Summerset at the Course in November 2014. “I was on my own in a four-bedroom family home and was looking at having to spend $20,000 repairing the roof. Then I got cancer and thought stuff it! “I did lots of research into all the retirement village living options and I just really liked the feel of Summerset. I’ve never had so many people wave to me in all my life,” Erin says. “My villa has a big living space and being on a corner section is very light and open. Moving into Summerset really felt like coming home – I love it.” |
