Rental Village

Many people will find they have a variety of options of where and how they wish to live (although choice is currently limited across the country due to rising property prices and a shortage of housing stock).

If you can afford it, buying a home allows you to establish community roots and provides financial security. Many of our larger cities and towns also offer a host of alternative housing options to suit people at all stages of life. Plenty of people might be drawn to the social interaction that comes with living in a retirement village or other suitable housing designed for people aged 60-plus.

For others, renting a home – via a not-for-profit or other charitable organisation – or living in a co-housing arrangement like an Abbeyfield home may suit better. For those struggling to find warm and safe accommodation, there are public (social) housing options available: organisations such as Work and Income will help you to apply for these. If you are needing a higher level of support, a care home might be necessary.
