Standard rooms and services are those that are covered by the Age Related Residential Care Agreement (ARRC). All Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (formerly District Health Boards) contracted providers must meet the requirements of this agreement (currently all residential care providers are contracted in New Zealand/Aotearoa). Examples of what they must provide include:
- Personal care and assistance.
- Adequate, nutritious meals and snacks.
- Accommodation, with use of furniture, fittings, fixtures, bedding and utensils.
- A clean, warm, safe, well-maintained, homely and comfortable environment.
- Cleaning and laundry services.
- An outdoor area for residents that is easy to get to.
- Communal aids and equipment for personal care or general mobility.
They must also provide services that meet your individual needs as identified in your interRAI assessment.
All standard rooms and services must cost no more than what is known as the Maximum Contribution.
Standard rooms attract no premium fees or additional charges.
It’s important to note that standard rooms are not all the same; market forces and the philosophy of the operator can influence what’s offered.
