Standard rooms. Can the price differ from place to place?

If the care homes are in the same defined geographical region then the quick answer is 'no'.

The maximum you have to pay for your contracted care, basic accommodation, meals, laundry etc.  is known as the Maximum Contribution. These payment rates, which vary according to where you live (the regions are shown in the Gazette e.g., North Shore City, Waitakere City, Auckland city etc. ) are gazetted, which means the government reports on the new rates whenever they change.

The care component does not change regardless of whether you are a subsidised or private paying resident.

The level of accommodation (type of room, furnishings etc.) and additional services (such as paid TV, special outings) can however be enhanced by the care home. Care home providers may offer you these enhanced services such as premium rooms, at an additional cost.
