In New Zealand there is some Ministry of Health (MOH) funding available for hearing aids. There are two funds. Access to these funds is based on the type of hearing loss you have and your circumstances. There might be other options if you do not meet the MOH criteria.
MOH assistance for hearing aids
Your eligibility depends on what type of hearing loss you have and your circumstances.
The subsidy scheme may be available if you do not qualify for the funding scheme. The subsidy for each aid of $511.11 (inc. GST) is available only via an approved assessor every six years.
If you do not qualify for either of these schemes but meet other criteria, you may be able to get help towards the cost of hearing aids through ACC or Veterans’ Affairs. Find out more from the Ministry of Disabled People's website.
