Kauri Lodge offers a slice of tranquility in the heart of Riccarton. Nestled against Riccarton Bush in a quiet location with buses and the Westfield shopping Mall at the gate. We are a family focused boutique Rest Home offering personal service, with security, but still providing for your independence.

We have lovely, well appointed, new Studio Units available for Private Rental or for purchase.

We have 2 other facilities in Christchurch - Avon Lifecare in Linwood and Victoria Care in the City Centre

May Bring Own Furniture Yes We encourage all residents to bring their own furniture. The rooms are large enough to fit a couch, 2 lounge chairs, a small table with 3 chairs, TV, Telephone, Bed - may be double size, fridge. Each room has a bench with sink - ideal for tea making.
Single Rooms Yes Our single rooms are spacious. The rooms are well appointed and have ensuites.
Rooms suitable for a couple Yes Our studio sized rooms are perfectly suited for couples. They will fit a double bed and also have room for lounge furniture. Very spacious.

Our Diversional Therapists provide an innovative and diverse acitvity programmme.They are very approachable and friendly.They encourage feedback and input from the Residents. We have weekly outings, entertainment, happy hour, newspaper reading and exercises, word games or bowls .We also have a library with a variety of large print books. We endeavour to assist all residents with their interests.

What's included in your fees and what's not Telephone, daily newspaper for private use, X-ray, dental, audiology, podiatory, cosmetic, dry cleaning, optical or specialist costs. Legal and financial expenses.
Staffing qualifications and details Kauri Lodge has Registered Nurses. Our Registered Nurses work the morning shift and an RN is on call 24 hours a day. All carers are currently in training or have completed the ACE training. We have a total of 37 staff. We always have 2 or more staff on at any one time. Several of our staff have been here for many years. They say Kauri Lodge is a "special place" to work.
Details about meals Menus are prepared seasonally and in 4 weekly cycles. Individual meals can be prepared for residents with special requirements. Dietitian advice available. Breakfast is served in bed, residents have the choice of different cereals, friut, yoghurt, juice, toast. The hot meal is served at midday - Evening meal residents have a choice of soup and another dish eg fish pie, sandwiches, bacon and eggs and salads. Our baking is home made. There is always a variety and is always delicious!
Associated Complexes Adjacent to the Resthome we have 15 Self Contained Units. These are one or two bedrooms. Arrangements can be made for these residents requiring Homecare, meals or Nursing services. The Villas are integral part of Kauri Lodge .
