Levin Home for War Veterans |
Everyone is welcome at Levin War Veterans Home. This unique home recognises the men and woman who have fought for our freedom and cared for our country. Levin Home has a rich history and vibrant future.
Levin War Veterans Home offers rest home, hospital, and dementia and hospital care, as well as short-term respite, health recovery, and an engaging day programme.
At Enliven, we create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive regardless of their age or ability. As well as providing day-to-day support and clinical care, we take into account the physical, social, emotional, and cultural needs of each person we support.
Our elder-directed philosophy means we put residents at the heart of everything we do. When you or your loved one moves into an Enliven home, you’re joining a unique and special community. This means we work to ensure the elders of Levin War Veterans Home have companionship, variety and spontaneity, fun, meaningful activity, and purpose in their lives. It ensures that elders are involved in decisions that relate to both their personal wellbeing and what happens at their home.
Our staff are not only highly trained, they’re also friendly, caring and embrace our elder-directed philosophy of care. Our nurses are on-duty 24-hours-a-day and the doctor also visits regularly. We are in regular contact with residents to ensure all clinical needs are met.
As an Enliven home, we’re proud to be more than just ‘family friendly’. At Levin War Veterans Home , your family is part of our family, which means you’ll find there are no set visiting times. After all, family, friends, and the community play a big part in life here

I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else, I’m happy here.” – Rose, resident. “Levin Home is a nice place to in and we [my husband and I] liked the fact that it was originally opened for those who have lived through war.” – Vera, resident. “There’s plenty in the way of entertainment, with music, a pool table, darts boards, card tables and areas to eat and have a drink.” – Dave, resident. |

EDEN ALTERNATIVE - A PHILOSOPHY OF CARE We have adopted the Eden Alternative at Levin Home for War Vets, which means we work to create vibrant living and work environments for our residents. We encourage residents to maintain their own routines and continue with hobbies and interests. Residents' pets, the presence of children, plenty of plants and gardens and a high level of local community involvement is a part of our Homes' everyday life. OUR OWN SOCIAL CLUB Residents of Levin Home for War Veterans established the Veterans Arms in early 2014. The social club is run by the residents who invite family, friends and members of the community to attend each month. Attendees enjoy entertainment, a meal and refreshments, as well as a game of pool or cards and even the occasional sing-a-long. The New Zealand flag holds pride of place, but the room is also adorned with RSA memorabilia and includes a bar leaner, café style seating and comfy lounge chairs. |
