We strive for an improved quality of living and our particilar aim is to provide atteentive care that will enhance the medical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, physical and social well being of our patients, so they can live as independent and active a life as possible within personal limitations.
Set in the leafy suburb of Westmere, we are just around the corner from the beach at Cox's Bay and five minutes from the cafes at the Westmere shops. You can often hear the tuis singing in the old pohutakawa tree in the front garden and there is a family of grey warblers to be seen enjoying life in the camellia bush. When you sit on our front verandah you can see the sea and breathe in the coastal air all year round.
We served home cooked, nutritionally approved, fresh, seasonal food and our chef is always very attentive to the special dietary needs of all patients.
The hospital is clean, shiny and bright and visitors often comment on how welcoming and pleasant it is as they step through the door. We strive to maintain a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere whilst ensuring the efficient smooth running of a fresh and up to date hospital environment.
There are pastime and hobby interests every weekday morning and a bus outing to somewhere different in Auckland weekly. Trivia quizzes are well-liked and visitors are always welcome to join in. Pamper sessions are popular with the ladies who love a manicure and nail polish makeover. Assisted cooking demonstrations are good fun when there are pike-lets and savory delicacies to share around.

Testimonials
A review for Lynton Lodge from Margaret G A few years ago our family needed to find PH for our elderly Aunt. She was in care peviously in a large institution which proved very distressing to her and the wider family. We needed to find a more homely environment. We found Lynton Lodge ( L.L) a beautiful old Homestead in a tree lined street amoungst private homes, north facing over looking a stunning view of the harbour ! This new home was similar to Aunty,s old home . The veranda, gardens and view all familiar and so as expected she settled in immediately. One walks into a very friendly non threatening atmosphere. There is always a staff member near by over seeing, interacting with patient’s and visitors. It is a welcoming ,busy professional place. Staff are friendly and help ful and many have shown a real interest in Aunty,s back ground. The home has many small lounges which helps avoid large crowded impersonal spaces. A handful of patients with similar disabilities are assigned to each lounge. In Aunty,s lounge most clients are in a very comfortable reclining lazyboy chair on wheels. All looking well groomed and dressed according to the conditions. Recently I had suggested they may like to play soft music instead of the TV and was thrilled to observe this on my next visit. The bed rooms are a good size ,uncluttered and spotlessly clean. The hospital always smells fresh. Because the hospital is small , washing is returned quickly. One of the greatest benefits of L.L is that they cook food on the premises. Not only is the quality excellent, but delicious smells of food permeates the home giving everyone a lift. It is a pleasure to visit and see the staff helping individuals with their meals and making it easy for families to be involved as well. Aunty is always put to bed with care at L.L. She is well covered, has had her eye drops , and looks very cosy.It is easy to visit her at night and we appeciate this fact.. There are very rarely times when bells are ringing at L.L which is great sign every thing is under control and patients are happy and well cared for. We thankyou for the care of our dear Aunty ____________________________________________________________ Lynton Lodge review from Jane B. In January 2014 sadly I had to admit I could no longer look after my husband who was suffering from dementia and frailty. I spent some time looking at various secure facilities in Auckland which had hospital level care. I also listened to numerous reports and horror stories. I rang Senior Line who gave me some suggestions including Lynton Lodge. When I went to visit I was impressed. The staff I spoke to were helpful and friendly. I liked the building which had a homely feel to it. I especially liked the fact that nearly all the rooms had French doors which could be opened onto small courtyards or a veranda – lovely in the summer. However, my main concern was for the quality of care. I made further enquiries from various health professionals and heard nothing but praise. It was also close to home. My decision was made. I have had no regrets and am grateful to know he is being well looked after. The nursing staff are caring and sensitive to his needs. The caregivers are patient and understanding. His room is always spotlessly clean and his clearly marked clothes kept freshly laundered. Nothing has been lost. I am grateful to the staff who work to keep the patients stimulated with activities and outings and also to those in the kitchen who provide him with nutritious and appetizing meals. He has gained in some much needed weight. Thank you Lynton Lodge! |
