Registered Nurse Yes We are required to have 24 hour nursing coverage as a part of our hospital services and, in practice, during the week there may be two or more on duty at any one time.

Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes We have a high coverage of senior nurse assistants and most of our staff are qualified to some degree to provide care to our elderly residents. We pride ourselves on the level of training provided and staff are constantly receiving updates.
Physiotherapist Yes Our physiotherapist is contracted to support the rehabilitation of our residents. We employ a physio-aide Monday to Friday who works under the guidance of the physiotherapist.
Occupational Therapist No We contract a qualified occupational therapist when required.
Social Worker (on site) Negotiable We have access to the ADHB Care Team social workers for all residents and work with them to ensure residents receive an appropriate level of care.

Activities Co-ordinator Yes We employ an activities co-ordinator who works with our residents Monday to Friday. She also arranges outings in our van and co-ordinates entertainment from outside.

Podiatrist Yes The podiatrist comes six weekly. Senior staff are able to manage basic toe nail cutting and the podiatrist does the more difficult nails, diabetic nails and others on request.
Dietitian Yes We contract a dietician to oversee our menus and those residents with specific dietry requirements.
Accredited Visitors Yes Vera is our residents' advocate who comes to visit regularly. We also have volunteers from Baradene College and Auckalnd Grammar School and an English Language School. These people help with activities for residents.

Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor Yes A Catholic priest conducts a weekly mass. Our contracted chaplain (an Anglican priest) comes weekly (Friday morning). A baptist minister comes for a service on a monthly basis. Further or more frequent visits can be made if required.
Other Personnel Yes We have our own contracted doctor, Dr.Paul Trotman and Dr. Roderick Mulgan, who comes on Wednesdays to see anyone who is unwell. He is also available when requested. We also have a close relationship with the Auckland District Health Board CARE team.

Special Features
This facility is owner-operated and is situated in a quiet no-exit street. It covers about 2/3 acre in the heart of picturesque Epsom. The grounds are park-like with flowers, native trees and seating in shady spots for our residents. Most of St. Patrick's is purpose built while the original villa remains at the front. We are indeed fortunate to be in the heart of the city yet in such a quiet and peaceful street with all amenities close by.

A variety of accommodation is offered at St. Patrick's for rest home level and hospital level residents.
As owner/managers we are dedicated to providing the very best of care and have many testimonials from families of former and current residents. We live nearby of the premises and work as Manager/RNs/Management. All staff are expected to attend regular in-service training sessions to keep updating skills. We often use external educators for more specialised training. The very highest standard of care and cleanliness are expected at all times by management from staff. We are certified to provide rest home and hospital care services. We have well-developed quality assurance systems with regular audits and monitoring to ensure the very highest of standards.

Our activities programme, which is co-ordinated by our activity coordinator, who under the training as a Directional Therapist, includes all of the following: regular visits from our resident advocate (Vera), Alzheimers Society, housie, board games, breakfast in bed, canine friends, cards, children, religion, Communicare, concerts, craft, entertainers from outside, exercises, games, garden, gardening for those so inclined, happy hour with entertainment, jigsaw, massage, movies, newspaper reading, parties, pastoral care, pianist, quizzes, reading, shopping, sing-a-longs, vegetarian, videos. Truly wonderful!!

Activities are available most days of the week but not all residents are able to participate at this level. No resident is excluded and everyone is catered for to suit their needs.

Entertainment in the form of piano and piano accordion, Singing, Zumba stretching, etc, is provided on a regular weekly basis. Our happy hour with nibbles, drinks and entertainment is held on the last Friday of the month at 3:30 p.m. to which we welcome the inclusion of resident family members.

We do endeavor to get our residents off the property from time to time. We have our own 11 passenger minivan which takes regular trips. These are a real highlight. We also attempt to visit the Parks, such as westersprings, Cornwall park; Auckland Domain, other places of interest such as Beaches and shops, St Lukes mall and outside concerts.

Staffing qualifications and details Our staff are all well chosen and well trained. We support staff to provide the best care, and have a low staff turnover as a result.
Details about meals All meals are homecooked on the premises by professional cooks who have worked in rest homes and hospitals for many years. We have a four week rotating menu and special diets are catered for. We also have new blood in to cook delicious Chinese food.
