Description
Our Village Living Offering
Situated in park-like grounds, our dwellings come with their own outdoor areas, providing a great sense of tranquility and space. Conveniently located only minutes ride away in the minibus, which stops at our front gate, Atawhai offers peace and quiet plus a connection to Taradale village.

Our 24-hour Registered Nurse is available for the village residents, as well as a weekly phone call from our staff, who are never far away.

At Atawhai, there’s a strong and active social committee, and a lively community centre.

Additional Services
Visits from hearing clinics, private gardeners, heat pump maintenance and yearly villa safety checks, are all available to our residents.

Activities Programme
An always fun and interesting activity programme is available for anyone who wants to take part. There’s happy hour every Friday night, weekly mystery tour outings, exercise classes and chat and craft afternoons.

As food is about sociability and enjoyment, we have a fortnightly soup and bun lunch and every three weeks, you can enjoy our drinks and nibbles evening.

Aside from shopping trips, our van is always on the road, taking residents on fun excursions like; the Christmas Lights bus trip, daffodils and craft day in the country and afternoon at the lavender farm.

What’s Near By
There are plenty of amenities close to Atawhai including golf courses, garden centres, cafes and a large community sports arena which hosts a variety of sporting and social functions. There’s also a heated swimming pool at the near-by school.

The beautiful art deco city of Napier is a short, bus ride away, as are Hastings, and Havelock North – and the ride is free.

Dwelling Features
All cottages and villas feature sunny gardens with north-facing aspects. There is a front entrance security door, telephone points in the dining room, bedroom and kitchen. Smoke alarms and heat pumps come standard in all dwellings. Select rooms have double-glazing, tinted glass windows and a private secure backyard. Most have garages or parking available nearby.

Village Features
For all residents to use at their discretion, Atawhai offers a great Community Centre, lounge and kitchen, chapel area, conference/training room, large gardens and lawn areas, parking areas throughout the village, a monthly village newsletter and a residents social committee. There is wheelchair access to most of the facilities.

Testimonials
Testimonials
* "I especially value the fact this Retirement Village has ongoing care facilities, advice and help when I need It"

* "Before we moved in the perception was the idea of a "last stand" place to go. The actual experience was a transition from a busy street where we last resided to a much more peaceful environment."

* "I can live independently in a cottage and when I need more care the next step is the rest home and if finally needed, the hospital wing".

* "I had every help - in many ways - during the transition from my own home"

What's New
What's New

The newly set up social committee has been very busy organizing entertainment and social gatherings.

Fish & Chip nights have been very successful. Residents have enjoyed some old fashioned movies, DVD's.

While the weather was good, out door BBQ's. Special afternoon teas. Art Deco entertainment.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
