HOLMDENE ONE OF THE VERY BEST

Holmdene Home & Hospital in Balclutha is one of New Zealand’s top aged care providers in terms of giving the very best of care for residents.

One of nine Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO) homes, Holmdene has a three-year Ministry of Health Certification following a comprehensive independent audit.

The audit included reviews of policies and procedures, observation of how services were provided to residents, surveys of and meetings with residents and families, plus interviews with rest home management.

Holmdene’s audit report said residents and relatives confirmed that the quality of care to the people who lived at the home was very high.

Holmdene, home to 35 people with a combination of both hospital-level and rest home care, has been an integral part of Balclutha town for over 50 years. PSO is a major provider of health and social services in Otago.

The full audit report is available on www.health.govt.nz under ‘Rest home certification and audits’.

Interests & Activities
Interests & Activities
Maintaining regular sporting and community activity our individual residents had before moving to Holmdene, is encouraged. We believe residents should maintain the connection they had with their family, friends and community, and will do all we can to ensure those connections are kept.

In-house, we have an extensive activities programme that includes exercise, quiz sessions, newspaper readings, guest speakers and entertainers, and Happy Hour is a very popular event.

There is great emphasis on outings, undertaken in comfortable vans, with events ranging from concerts to garden visits.

Some residents prefer to undertake hobbies and interests privately, or on a one-to-one basis, and we are happy to accommodate them.
