Hub of the village – The Lodge:
Our dwellings are all in easy walking distance surrounding our magnificent Lodge – the social heart of the village. It’s here where all the action happens, from enjoyable theatre productions to touching musical recitals, it all takes place within the elegant walls of this grand hub. Big-screen sporting events, wining, dining, dancing and everything fun in between, The Lodge sustains our remarkable camaraderie.
There is no clash at Settlers between community and privacy, for they are both well respected. One can live as privately and quietly as one desires while knowing that friendly connection is only an easy stroll away in moments when you feel that you want it. This enables Settlers to remain a highly desirable choice for discerning people, regardless of where they may find themselves in life.
Dedicated Team:
The exceptional culture of our village is the result of dedicated management with a team of caring staff. We take immense pride in providing a high standard of service to our residents, including supportive and compassionate registered nurses for 24-hour emergency response and day clinic. Our nurses take a holistic approach to supporting our residents in keeping well, both physically and mentally.
Our sister villages are Fairview Lifestyle Village and Fairview Care. Fairview Care is a private hospital which offers priority access for both Settlers and Fairview residents.
Compliance:
Because Settlers is a registered retirement village as well as being part of the Premier Lifestyle Villages Group, we offer residents the full confidence of knowing we operate according to the Retirement Village Act of 2003, and its Code of Practice, due to our membership with the Retirement Villages Association.

Testimonials
I have resided in Settlers Life Style Village for 12 years and can give testament to the fact that I have enjoyed every day of those years, with still more to fulfil and enjoy. Initially I was working five days a week in three different fulltime occupations. Socially I always had a full calendar, including many of the activities which residents in the Village initiate. I was on several committees such as the active Residents Committee and was one of the original Executive members of the Bar Committee. Interests include Keep Fit exercises with resident and famous Precious McKenzie, and I’ve always loved being on stage in our wonderful and Stage Shows. Having worked in many residential village homes on the North Shore with foot care I have always found both Settlers and Fairview Life style Villages outstanding, especially with fantastic staff, and the friendliness. This sentiment is always commented on from any of our visitors. The accolades are too many to list. Philippa Zink We live in a safe environment where every care and concern is taken into account. The staff are kind, thoughtful and helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I am in solitary lockdown during Level 4 of Covid-19 and immensely grateful that I live in this vibrant community. The well-being and mental health of residents appears to be high and is taken seriously. The Nursing staff are excellent and diligent. Those who may be anxious are supported and spirits are lifted. Meals are ordered and delivered. Parcels are delivered to our doorstep. There are occasional surprises of chocolate brownies and shortbread hearts which bring tears of appreciation. I never cease to appreciate the diligence with which the grounds of Settlers are taken care of. Beautiful trees and plants which lift our spirits. Most of us are aware of how incredibly fortunate we are to be in Aotearoa especially at this unprecedented time. Many residents have adopted a daily constitution and there are lovely walks in Nature. Safety rules are strictly abided by and we have a guard at the entrance of Settlers. We are energised and inspired! Heart and soul appear to be the underlying principles within which staff and residents flourish. C. Griffiths |

Special Features
For the third year running, Settlers Lifestyle Village has proudly taken the title of “Best Large Retirement or Lifestyle Village North Island” in the Aged Advisor’s coveted “People Choice Awards” category. The Aged Advisor Awards have run since 2015 and recognise the best retirement villages in New Zealand through the collation and review of the opinions of over 8,000 residents from more than 770 villages. Settlers Lifestyle Villages team is moved by the recognition from their residents as leaders in the North Island. Settlers Lifestyle Village centres itself around resident wellbeing, connectedness, and an active quality of life. Residents shine at Settlers Lifestyle Village through their desire to connect with each other and the world around them, participating in lifelong learning through the many educational talks and engaging with social groups in the village – one such group encourages men to combat loneliness by sharing their stories and a fine dram of whiskey together. Settlers Lifestyle Village is committed to offering something for everyone, with total peace of mind from its 24/7 emergency response nurse. Premier Lifestyle Villages CEO Terry Middlemost says, “What means the most to our team is the fact that our residents are behind this award. In 2013, when then Prime Minister John Key opened Settlers Lifestyle Village, we knew we would always endeavour to provide the best level of care available, and a meaningful range of experiences. This award reflects the superb work of our staff and management team, who – rain, hail or shine; continue to set the highest bar for lifestyle, comfort, security, hospitality, and care in a lifestyle village.” |

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.
In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
