What's included in your fees and what's not | The cost covers the following: all meals and we can also provide, with notice, meals for family members on occasions as well. All recreation activities except when there is a charge from an outing (like a ride on a steam boat etc) Laundry is done. If dry cleaning is needed that is at the cost of the resident. All bedding, beds etc are supplied. The home will provide basic toiletries like soap & paper, but all other items shavers, shampoo are purchased by Resident. We can provide these items at cost and they will be charged to the resident. If you are eligible for a government subsidy scripted medications and routine DR's visits or by the request of the Reg nurse are payable by the rest home.
Staffing qualifications and details | The home is staffed 24 hours a day, with caregivers who are competent and receive ongoing training. A registered nurse is available 24 hours a day. Support staff, include, recreation officer, cleaning and kitchen staff. We feel that it is important that you stay with your own Doctor. We do have a house GP. After hours (like all Rest homes, now as there is no longer an after hours doctor on duty in the Manawatu) we are required to contact hospital A&E. We use the blister packing for safe medication administration, which is managed, by the home's contracted pharmacy. If you wish to self-adininister medications and your Dr. or Advocate is happy with this we have a policy for this. We will provide a lockable drawer where the resident and senior staff in charge has access. We will still have to complete administration records required by the Ministry of Health. Care is focused on the individual's needs and an ongoing lifestyle plan is developed to facilitate care, in conjunction with the family.
Details about meals | Our menu has been prepared by a registered dietician with regard for flavoursome home cooking. Fresh baking is prepared in our kitchen daily. We encourage residents to eat in the main dining room but meals may be taken in residents' bedrooms if desired. Our menus rotate with summer winter, etc. Meal planning is mostly chosen by resident preference from a base menu generated by a registered dietician. Our Kitchen is never closed we will gladly prepare snacks at any time for our residents. Meal times are: Breakfast 7.15am, morning tea 10am, Main meal 12pm, afternoon tea 2.30pm, Dinner at 5pm and supper 7.10pm. Facilities are available for residents to help themselves to tea or coffee and home baking throughout the day and night.
