A lot can be said through our hands — a welcome, a goodbye, a friendly embrace, a playful gesture, a sign of affection, or just the delivery of a cup of tea. At Radius Clare House, we offer more than just an extra set of hands; we strive to improve your life at the stage you're at.

Radius Clare House is a modern, purpose-built care home architecturally designed to meet the specific needs of our elderly residents. We are in a peaceful, tranquil neighbourhood, yet close to a full range of services and shops.
We are known for our warm, friendly, home-like environment and family atmosphere, and we are proud of the individual care we can provide.

STAYING CONNECTED
We provide a personal free Wi-Fi connection for residents to stay connected with loved ones, access news, shop online, and stream movies or TV shows.
We also provide a free elder-friendly phone with oversized buttons and covers all mobile and toll calls. Residents can bring their existing phone numbers with them when they move in.
We like families to stay connected; they are welcome anytime to visit. A monthly newsletter goes out to families, detailing upcoming events and photos from recent activities and happenings at Clare House.

OUR FOOD
The kitchen prepares fresh, nutritious meals that are tasty and inviting. There are three main meals, with two options provided at dinner. There are also snacks throughout the day and a cup of tea ready to be poured often.
The menu is on a four-week cycle and is designed with residents in mind and approved by a dietician.

ACTIVITIES
Clare House offers an extensive activity programme that promotes self-esteem and personal fulfilment.
They aim to stimulate cognitive functioning, nurture their residents, and provide purposeful activities that result in full and enriched lives full of fun, laughter, and smiles.
This is a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe in a friendly, warm, homely environment that promotes individual freedom with security. An environment in which each person can identify his or her own space, where they can seek privacy and welcome friends and family in comfort.

We have an intrinsic belief in people and their holistic nature. A wholeness that compromises social, spiritual, physical, cultural and psychological characteristics, and which requires a planned approach to caring.

The plan accommodates the uniqueness of each individual and recognises fluctuations and changes in needs as they arise.

We recognise that illness and wellness are part of each person’s life experience. Even though our residents may not be ill, they will have special needs from time to time.

Our aim is to prevent illness and promote healing when illness does occur, while maintaining individual integrity, dignity and independence. We do this by fostering a collaborative approach to care in which a well developed carer- resident relationship is of primary importance.

ENVIRONMENT

We have three separate wings; The Williams Wing caters for residents who are unable to care for themselves in their own home. The Johnstone Wing has been specifically designed for the needs of the more confused elderly who require specialist care with the Perriam Wing offering a hospital level of care.

Clare House has a modern central heating system and is provided with systems to ensure the maximum safety and security for both residents and staff. There is a fully automatic sprinkler and smoke detector system, this is connected to the Fire Brigade.

We are situated in beautiful, spacious gardens, in a peaceful neighbourhood away form traffic noise, yet close to a variety of amenities including shops, banks, churches etc.

We are well known for our warm, friendly, home-like environment and family atmosphere. We are not too big, so our residents are like family, and yet not too small, so we are able to provide a full range of services for our residents. We enjoy personal and individual relationships with staff, residents and families.

Staffing qualifications and details It is as requirement that all our staff undertake training both when they commence employment and on an on-going basis. They are trained in emergency evacuation and first aid. We have staff available 24 hours a day and they are all trained to provide the best possible care.
Details about meals We have a five week rotating menu. This varies in summer and winter as we try to include seasonal foods. Breakfast is porridge, cereal with fruit, toast tea and coffee and juice. Morning and Afternoon tea is a cake or slice with a drink. Some favourites are scones, muffins, anzac biscuits, tan square and cream sponge. Our main meal is lunch. This is a meat dish with vegetables and dessert. We enjoy meals such as beef curry with veges and creamed rice for dessert or a full roast dinner with apple crumble and ice cream. We provide a lighter meal in the evenings, something like chicken and corn soup with scalloped potatoes and a sandwich, or some bacon and egg pie with pea and ham soup and a sandwich - we always finish our light meal with some fresh fruit and bread with spreads. For supper we have some plain biscuits and a sandwich with a cuppa or maybe a milo!
