Homesteadcare Ilam is a family-owned 39 bed home dedicated to providing individualised quality care to each resident. Be it day-care, respite or permanent residency, our vision is to provide “personalised care for the whole person,” in a peaceful homelike environment.

Many of our skilled staff members have worked at Homesteadcare Ilam for many years which reflects the satisfaction they get out of supporting our residents. We get to know our residents well and place great emphasis on listening to each other, choice, dignity, and respect.

We offer a smaller family owned home which places a strong emphasis on individualised care. All of our rooms are fully or partially ensuited with lovely garden views. We are handily located around the corner from the Bush Inn Shopping centre and have bus stop services directly outside our gate. Special Features
Homesteadcare Ilam is a privately owned resthome and hospital with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere focused on providing a home, not a facility for our Residents. We have dual purpose beds which enables rest home or hospital level of care - if a rest home Resident's level of care changes to hospital care, they have peace of mind knowing there is no need to move. Our home is fitted with accessibility ramps and safety grab rails, call bells, and smoke detectors with water sprinklers. Our home is surrounded by large garden areas with a number of terraces and courtyard. We are just 1 km from the beautiful grounds of the Homestead at the University of Canterbury with their wonderful rhododendron display and many lovely walks are available close by. |

Interests & Activities
Homesteadcare Ilam provides an extensive range of activities and visiting performers designed to keep our residents stimulated. Our Diversional Therapist works to deliver programmes for each individual to promote independence as well as group activities to promote and allow for socialising and engagement. Our home has a library allowing residents to pursue their own interests. We also have a regular schedule of performers and entertainers visiting. A sample of activities offered include: Indoor Bowls, Indoor Games, Exercise Programs, Board Games, Housie, Bingo, Newspaper Reading, Crosswords, Cooking Groups, Gardening Groups, Art & Crafts, Music and Happy Hour. Regular outings in our wheelchair bus allows for sightseeing or shopping trips. There is also regular involvement from the community. |
