RESPITE CARE
Respite care is funded by the Ministry of Health and can be accessed through your own doctor. It is a wonderful opportunity for people to have time out and a break away from their home. Alternatively, it can be used to help to a loved one who has been caring for you. As long as we have rooms available you would be most welcome to join us for your respite care. Numerous people have had several visits to “Fitzroy of Merivale” utilising this service. Many have gone on to make the decision to live permanently with us. Whilst here you will enjoy all our services, including your very spacious private room and ensuite together with direct access the the beautiful Fitzroy gardens.

SHORT TERM CARE
In addition to the government funded respite care, Fitzroy also offers short term private care. Once again this is dependent on room availability. This service is funded by the resident and the length of stay is arranged between Fitzroy, the resident and their family. Short term care options give flexibility to all parties and once again the opportunity to experience all that “Fitzroy of Merivale” has to offer. Each unit is self-contained with an ensuite, television, nurse-call, tea and coffee making facilities. Short term care residents are assured of receiving all the benefits of living in this supportive environment.

Testimonials
Testimonials
I have enjoyed working at Fitzroy over the past 14 years, being a smaller Rest Home allows me to get to know everyone. Assisting them in their daily needs and getting to know each persons idiosyncrasies, which helps the transition from their family homes to their new home with us. Keri Smith - Senior Caregiver/Team Leader

I have been living at "Fitzroy of Merivale" for the past 4 years and what a wonderful time it has been for me. I am fortunate and enjoy two adjoining rooms with my own outdoor area, morning sun and an affectionate "adopted" cat. We are always looking for new friends to share our beautiful home. Whether it is the warmth and caring staff or the proximity to Merivale and all it has to offer, I can sincerely recommend "Fitzroy" as a place to live, in comfort, style and security of knowing one needs are always being met. Mrs Davies - Resident

"My mother moved into Fitzroy in early 2011 when the earthquakes got too much for her to continue living by herself. Since then she continues to enjoy life there being looked after in a very cozy environment with good food, company and a full programme of activities. It gives my family a real sense of peace of mind that mother is well cared for. Anne Harvey - Christchurch

"My mother was extremely well cared for in the almost 4 years she lived at Fitzroy. Fitzroy provides a unique, tranquil atmosphere where people can maintain their dignity when they can no longer live in their own homes. Our family was most grateful for the way staff met our mothers needs, particularly when her health failed. Thank you" Dr Richard Acland - Fendalton

YOUR HOME
With it’s obvious style and elegance “Fitzroy” is nestled neatly alongside the Nurse Maude hospital in the heart of Merivale with less than 100 steps to all that the Merivale precinct has to offer. Grace and serenity become apparent as you move into the Fitzroy facility. A number of the 30 rooms have a direct view across the main lawn, gardens and entranceway. All the rooms enjoy direct access through a door out to their own private courtyard or garden. A clear paved pathway meanders around the entire facility through perfumed gardens and mature rhododendrons. Every room is stylish and unique in its décor, has its own ensuite, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, television and nurse call. Our lounges and dining room are tasteful and spacious. We at Fitzroy believe dining should be an experience for all to enjoy. White tablecloths, linen serviettes and intimate dining room table settings are the norm.
