Testimonials
After being a Registered Nurse and Manager for over thirty years, I have seen new systems come and go. The uphill struggle attempting to adapt a systems functionality when it obviously does not meet service requirements is both time consuming and frustrating. Life in the New Zealand aged care industry is difficult enough without having inadequate electronic tools to assist you in data collection, reporting, analysis and creating a log of presenting issues. That is why the HCSL system is an absolute God send. There is a reason why this system is the winner of the Excellence in Software Award – NZ Excellence in IT Awards 2021. It’s easily navigable system, national benchmarking for clinical KPI’s, complaints management, automatically updated policies and procedures and prompting for overdue care plan reviews to name a few, make it a truly invaluable tool for managers. If you work in the New Zealand aged care industry and have not yet invested in HCSL, you really are missing out. I strongly recommend taking the time to find out about HCSL and the immediate benefits it will bring to any organisation whether it is a large corporate or a smaller, owner-operator business. Jon Amesbury RN – Regional General Manager The Village Palms & Merivale Retirement Village I am very happy to endorse your system as the information is invaluable for CNMs to analyse the data/information and make informed decisions on best practice and innovation to decrease hazards, improve outcomes, and mitigating factors for resident welfare. I’m pleased you are delving into the data to the level you are, as it’s time saving for sites in many respects, and so easy to dice and slice the information to get the trends. CNM’s used to spend hours just writing up the collective information before the analysis, so this system is hugely time saving. Rhonda Sherriff Clinical Advisor for NZ Aged Care Association We have been working with Gillian and Healthcare Compliance Solutions Ltd (HCSL) for more than 4 years. Compassion, quality of care services and their drive for excellence inspired by the quest for excellence in care put Gillian and her team at HCSL in a league of Its own. In the ever evolving science of aged care, HCSL systems and aged care software program has proven itself not only as a world class quality health system but also demonstrates that it’s person centred and current best practice. It is designed and developed based on scientific evidence to ensure the delivery of best quality of care and supporting best quality of life to all our clients. The inclusive, consultative and the facility specific approach of Gillian and her team is absolutely outstanding with constant follow up on changes. These include new improved plans to ensure the best quality of care, practices and bench-marking incorporating the latest best practices, outcome based, with the main focus on quality of care and safety for our residents and staff at all times. Using HCSL and all the quality services it provides ensures we are up to date with the latest policies and procedures relevant to the current care practices. It also gives us peace of mind that we are audit ready at any given time. Based on these systems, our residents are cared for in the best possible way resulting in the high demand for our care services and Holly Lea being a highly sought after facility. For peace of mind and knowing you are dealing with the best quality system in Healthcare we cannot recommend HCSL highly enough. Juliane Brand (RN, MPH) GENERAL MANAGER Holly Lea Village We are very pleased to have recently been granted 4 year MOH Certification! No corrective actions and three Continuous Improvements. This follows on from a fully attained Partial Provisional Audit that was required prior to opening our two new wings earlier this year with no corrective actions. Make no mistake! HCSL policies, software and support have played a major part in these accomplishments. The HCSL software we use means we have easy access to information in real time. I started working with Gillian of HCSL shortly after I took on the role of Facility Nurse Manager at Bethsaida Retirement Village six years ago. The facility was not using Healthcare Compliance Solutions policies at the time and perhaps this was reflected in the previous audit results. Gillian is always responsive to emails and phone calls which is critical when timely advice is required. The HCSL regular newsletters are interesting with relevant and up to date information on issues affecting aged care. Gillian is a lovely person to deal with. She is thoughtful, professional, pragmatic and I have always found her to be keen to help, with practical advice on any issues that might arise in the management of a retirement facility. I thoroughly recommend HCSL to all aged care facilities. Tracy Holdaway (RN BN) Bethsaida Retirement Village |

What's New
Publication of the book: 'Excellence in Care: a guide for managers and nurses' Tracey Martin (CEO, Aged Care Association NZ) in reference to this book states, “The book ‘Excellence in Care’ is the only resource of its kind in New Zealand, and we are very pleased to recommend it. It will be an invaluable tool for the future we must create”. Regan Gilchrist, (Clinical manager, Ross Home, Enliven - Presbyterian Support) also noted, "Your first book was an absolute life saver for me when I entered my first clinical manager position. The book was incredibly helpful for me coming from an acute role to aged care. I often refer to it as a refresher and would recommend this to anyone new - clinical or facility manager! I very much look forward to this second book." A worldwide shortage in nurses has resulted in early promotion into senior roles, often without the necessary training or support. It is for those personnel in particular this book was written. Aged Care is a specialty area unlike any other and needs specialised skills and knowledge to achieve excellence in care. This book addresses such issues as governance and management, leadership, communication, diversity equity and inclusiveness, recruitment and performance management, rostering and team member retention, clinical theory to practice, care planning, teams, time management, adverse events, quality, risk and audit.
