Testimonials
Testimonials
“My wife Barb and I have been using the services of Penny’s Home Care for the past two and a half years. We’ve both had a few health problems, such as, in my case, secondary melanoma cancer and open heart surgery. Barb had brain surgery for a glioblastoma tumour in May 2020.
We’ve had the support of full-time care from the PHC carers throughout this time, and it is very much due to their wonderful support and care that, firstly, I am recovered, and Barb retains a quality of life that would be unattainable by any other means. To be cared for at home is the very essence of successful health recovery and an ongoing way of life.
In all this time, we have not once been let down by “no shows” or by the quality of every one of the amazing group of carers on our roster. They instinctively go the extra mile to ensure our care and comfort, embracing all aspects of personal care, household chores and cooking duties.
Under Sarah’s more recent ownership and management, the service retains all the special qualities we can recommend as 5-star plus.”
- Graeme Thompson, Wānaka

“I can’t speak highly enough about Penny’s Home Care, who have been taking care of my parents for two and a half years, and with full-time care for Mum over the past year and a half. Sarah & the team give us as a family so much peace of mind.
They truly do care. Every carer has so much empathy and brings instant cheer to the house. Everything they do for our family is nothing short of outstanding. We are so grateful that it has allowed our parents to remain at home, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs some home care.”
- Kate Thompson, Wānaka

“Returning home with our son after a serious spinal injury, the worry of home help was taken out of the equation as soon as we met Sarah and her team at PHC. We knew our son was in the very best of hands, and he has been cared for with the greatest respect, dignity and professionalism that one could ever hope for by a team of carers who have combined efficiency and attention to detail with empathy and a very good dose of humour. Their help enabled us to focus on what we needed to do to adapt to a new normal at home, knowing his care needs were more than taken care of. “
- Jo, Wānaka

“Penny's Homecare provides an amazing service. From the initial phone call to the regular visits assisting my elderly mother with showering & dressing, we as a family felt very supported and treated with respect. The care given to my mother was exceptional and provided with such warmth.
We would highly recommend their services.”
- Karen, Wānaka

“We can't thank you enough for the wonderful girls who looked after Stewart. They were the most caring and wonderful human beings. Not only did they provide Stewart with excellent care, we feel we have made new friends. I will be highly recommending your company to all our friends.”
- Lorraine & Stewart, Australia

“This thank you card hardly seems enough to thank you for the loving care and compassion shown to Mum over the years. I know she was very fond of you all and considered you her “special friends”. Thank you also for the support and time you gave to me when things were getting difficult.”
- Anonymous, Wānaka

"Thanks so much for attending Dad’s funeral, and also for sharing your great team with our family, including of course you! We couldn’t have done any of this without your team"
- Anonymous, Wānaka

“Best regards - and thank you for absolutely everything. I would have been lost without you and your team over these past 20 months.”
- Anonymous, Wānaka

“My sincere thanks and huge appreciation for the love, care and companionship your team gave to Mum, words cannot express our thanks.”

“Thank you for your everyday love for Mum and all our family. We have total respect for what you do, and how you do it. You are a very special team.”
- Anonymous, Wānaka

“Dad told me how appreciative he is of all of you. He said what an incredible difference it has made to his life and that you’re all so clean and tidy around the house!'“
- Anonymous, Wānaka

“Our Wānaka holiday was a great success, thanks mainly to your lovely ladies. ‘A’ plus for all of them. We hope to do it again.”
- Anonymous, Wānaka

Meeting the needs of older people
Meeting the needs of older people
Being the most important aspect to our work, kindness enables decisions to be made that always benefit the client, their families and the community. It means going slow and being thorough. We take the time to communicate and support both our clients and our team.
Sometimes, kindness means the carers take time out to recharge. To care well for others, we must know how to care for ourselves. Self-care is strongly encouraged and a priority in our team culture. We provide a gentle work ethic that enables our team to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
Kindness also means we keep a policy of low anxiety and low pressure at all times. Through a high level of support our carers/nurses always have help on hand and are able to say no to work they are not comfortable doing. This gives the clients a valuable experience of care with a relaxed and happy worker.

The last few years of life are so meaningful and a time to treasure. Every person needs a unique style of care that fits their individual situation. Not one person is the same, and each PHC care plan is created to represent the support that benefits the individual.
The only way to achieve quality care is by spending time. It is important to us to take the time that is needed to listen and get to know our clients. We enjoy doing what we can to connect with them and their families through communication and supportive care, which is best done over a cuppa.
