Testimonials
Thank you so much for your compassionate & professional care of mum over the last few years. Moving mum into a dementia home was a daunting thought however our initial visit & seeing the homeliness, happy staff and happy residents put our minds at ease. It has now become even more homely. Thank you for all of the yummy morning teas, your engagement with us has been appreciated, you are all so approachable. We are truly sad to no longer be a part of Hoon Hay. Many thanks for all your understanding, patience and support of mum whilst she was with you in Hoon Hay, both dad and I are very grateful as mum wasn't the easiest of residents but was always treated with such respect. "I considered all 6 recommendations made by Older Persons Mental Health. I prioritised Hoon Hay as the best choice from (a lot of) internet-based research, Dad's reaction to visiting there, and was extremely relieved because the Hoon Hay residents were similar in abilities to Dad. (Because, when it comes down to it Dad feeling at home and being able to, as he put it, "make eye contact" with the other residents was actually the most important thing). Dad also said that you had the friendliest manager! So my decision filters were a) is it run well b) does it have the facilities/activities/staff Dad needs/would like c) how did Dad react there i.e. does he fit in c) does it have good feedback (online line/from other sources) e) is it reasonably accessible for family and close to any familiar places for outings. Therefore I was glad because Hoon Hay is still on the south side of Christchurch for family to be able to visit easily". "We chose Hoon Hay for Dad because we preferred somewhere he could go and sit in a garden. We had had very good feedback on Hoon Hay and I wanted him to be happy". "You all do an amazing job of looking after Dad especially when his behaviour can at times be quite challenging. He is always treated with kindness and understanding". "It is always good to see how happy mum is, thank you for making her life happy and worthwhile". "Mum receives such loving care – from cleaners to Management – everyone really cares and gives their all. We are eternally grateful for the dignity and respect given to Mum". |
