The Loft is a safe, non-discriminatory space you can drop into and discuss your needs. Our Social Emergency Response Service offers free support to help you navigate difficult circumstances and access the resources you need to thrive.
Our service eliminates the need for you to navigate complex support systems alone during traumatic or stressful periods of your life. Instead, our dedicated team of Kaitūhono Hapori / Community Connectors will guide you through formulating a personalised plan and facilitate the necessary referrals and handovers on your behalf.
HOW IT WORKS
You don’t need a referral or an appointment. You can drop into The Loft and ask to speak to a Kaitūhono Hapori / Community Connector. Alternatively, you can request support via a phone assessment by calling 0800 865 638 or visit our website and fill in the form on our contact us page.
We can often see people immediately, but please be aware there may be a wait.
During your session, you can talk to our kaimahi about your situation and what you need support with. From there, we will create a plan with you that may include referrals to other agencies and/or information for you to follow up on.
OUR COLLABORATION
The Loft provides a collaborative hub where multiple specialist support organisations work together. This environment empowers us to respond to your needs quickly and efficiently by having access to information and resources that you might need, while also linking you to a wide range of supports all under one roof.
In-house services cover:
Anger management
Budgeting and financial planning
Child and family support
Disability support
Family violence intervention and prevention
Free legal and general advice
Housing advocacy
Immigration and refugee support
Mental health support
Older persons social work and counselling
Parenting support and education
Problem gambling support
Sexual assault support
Work & Income help / advocacy
If there is not a good fit in-house, we can refer to services throughout Canterbury.
