Our goal is to provide a quality, homely environment in which those who are a little more frail may live in an atmosphere of respect and friendliness and have their physical and psychological needs met regardless of culture, race or creed.

These warm, secure and beautifully furnished suites are comfortable, cosy and easy to live in. There are just 16 in total, with Stage 1 now complete and the final rooms of Stage 2 due for completion by the end of 2024.

Each 40sqm home provides full medical and nursing care around the clock. You can regularly receive personal prioritised medical attention from familiar faces - in the privacy of your own home.

Registered Nurse Yes There is a generally a registered nurse on morning and afternoon duties. Senior caregivers cover the overnight shift, plus Registered Nurse on occasions. We have our own team of dedicated Care Staff who work within Kensington House and Remuera Gardens.
Nurse Practitioner Negotiable We do not directly employ a Nurse Practitioner, however we do have access to this specialty when required.
Healthcare Assistants/Caregivers Yes We have a full team of Caregivers who work all shifts, alongside our Registered Nurses and Clinical Manager. Our own team of dedicated Care Staff work within Kensington House and Remuera Gardens.
Physiotherapist Negotiable Physiotherapy services may be available as prescribed by our General Practitioner. For residents who are not prescribed physiotherapy, we can suggest referral.
Occupational Therapist Negotiable Occupational Therapy services may be available on referral. They are not included in our contracted services to residents.
Social Worker (on site) Negotiable We have good relationships and frequent contact with social workers from various agencies.
Diversional Therapist Negotiable Currently recruiting to Diversional Therapy role to complement our Care Team and Activities Coordinator.

End of Life/Palliative Care No At Rest Home Level of care, we are not contracted to provide end of life care, however Palliative Care in part of our Resident aging journey. We are supported by our local Hospice as required and our Group Clinical Manager has expertise in Palliative Care.
Wound Care Yes General Wound Care is delivered on a regular basis by our Registered Nurses. Referral to wound care specialist may be made as required.

Special Features
Kensington House is a resthome within the Remuera Gardens Village. It is licensed as a 32 bed Stage 11 Rest Home and as such all residents must be medically assessed prior to entry. Kensington House is licensed to accommodate people who require a high level of support. It is important to note that the Rest Home is not a hospital nor is it licensed to accommodate people with advanced Alzheimer or dementia who are at risk of wandering.

Priority for entry to Kensington House is given to all residents of Remuera Gardens.

Built in conjunction with the Village, Kensington House is an important facility and is able to provide accommodation for people who are unable to retain their independence on a day to day basis.

Staff are both supportive and caring. Your individuality is respected.

Staffing qualifications and details Kensington House is run by a Clinical Manager who is in daily contact with the village and maintains close liaison with all village residents. In case of an emergency she has the responsibility for ensuring that the correct procedures are followed in attending to the needs of a resident.

The Ministry of Health conducts regular audits of Residential Care Facilities. They can be found HERE.

NOTE: The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (The Act) is designed to provide improved protection for people who ‘buy’ into a retirement village. If you intend to ‘purchase’ you must get independent legal advice before signing your occupation right agreement as required under The Act. Some Retirement Village type facilities are not required to register under The Act so different legal requirements apply. Please make sure you investigate fully.

In some villages there may be some Retirement Village units that have multiple uses e.g. a Serviced Apartment may also be used as a Residential Care Suite. The same unit may therefore show in several places on Eldernet.
