Selwyn House is located within Hansen Close, a small retirement village in Roseberry Avenue, Birkenhead, on Auckland's North Shore. The village is close to Birkenhead town centre and has easy access to all the town's amenities and shops, yet enjoys the tranquil surroundings of a mature residential environment.

Selwyn House and Hansen Close are owned and operated by The Selwyn Foundation, an independent, faith-based New Zealand registered charity providing services to older people and their families. The Foundation has been leading the way in improving the quality of life of seniors since 1954.
